WE OBSERVE AND IDENTIFY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT

Helping Young Players Grow with Joy and Confidence

THE GOLDEN YEARS (AGES 4–14) SHOULD BE ABOUT THE JOY OF PLAYING AND THE FREEDOM TO SHINE — NOT UNNECESSARY PRESSURE.

Between the ages of 4 and 14, football should give children the freedom to explore what they can do with the ball. A match can be competitive, and the result can matter. But the beauty of a well-timed pass, a clever movement or a brave attempt should matter too. Children need room to play, create and make mistakes without being surrounded by shouting, aggression or fear.

At STAR SPORT, we believe that a young player should always want the ball and strive to be as spectacular as possible, using skills and making decisions appropriate to their level of play. Being spectacular can mean a confident dribble, an imaginative pass or a perfectly timed movement. We encourage players to express themselves while recognising what each situation calls for.

Our one-off and regular scouting assessments offer a fresh perspective on a child’s development, whether they are looking to progress, questioning their role or performance, or finding less joy in the game. Each assessment follows clear, specific criteria tailored to the player’s age and level. We observe positioning, awareness, decision-making, movement, technique, pace and understanding of play.

We then provide a written report based on our observations, offering constructive feedback that the player can understand and use. It highlights strengths they can build on and practical areas for improvement. For younger children, the emphasis is on discovery, confidence and enjoyment; as they grow, the assessment becomes more detailed.

HELPING PARENTS SUPPORT THEIR CHILDREN’S DEVELOPMENT WITHOUT TAKING OVER

We also support parents in finding the right words and the right balance. Encouragement can help a child thrive; pressure and emotional outbursts can take the joy away. Our aim is to help families value both progress and performance while giving young players the space to develop their independence, express themselves and love the game.
